| Save the date for the 6th Annual Taste of Bird Rock. Come enjoy live music as you stroll along La Jolla Boulevard sampling food from our Bird Rock restaurants. Receive discounts to several Bird Rock boutiques. Kids will enjoy face painting, balloon artists, a jumpee and petting zoo. Just like last year we will be closing the boulevard from Midway to Camino de la Costa. Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for kids and $20 for BRCC members. A new component of this year's Taste of Bird Rock offers the community and merchants the opportunity to sponsor a Bird Rock Elementary classroom. 100% of your donation will be used to purchase necessary supplies. Your sponsorship will be posted in the classroom you support, and students will have the opportunity to personally thank you for your donation. Local merchants will have the option of hanging their sponsored classroom’s artwork at their place of business so patrons

As of 5/15/2008. The contractor has managed to stay on the aggressive schedule set earlier this month. That means one final shut down of the boulevard will be upon us next week. It will be painful but for only a couple of days. Here is generally what is planned:
Northbound Boulevard Closure
Paving on Monday, May 19th. The current detours will remain in place.

The construction in the neighborhoods by Valley Crest is complete and the contractor is in their mandatory six month maintenance period to ensure they deliver healthy landscaping. We expect the landscaping to be turned over the maintenance assessment district on or about September 1st.
